Dr Shona Chandra is a postdoctoral research fellow with the Pathogen Genomics team at Centre of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology – Public Health, Western Sydney Local Health District. In 2021, Shona was conferred a PhD (Science) in veterinary parasitology by the University of Sydney. Her PhD research primarily focused on the bacterial profile of Australian ticks of medical, veterinary and public health significance. Drawing on her metagenomics experience and One Health approach, her research at CIDM-PH currently focuses on determining the longitudinal trends of Salmonella Typhimurium and Streptococcus pneumoniae infections by combining traditional microbiology with modern, genomic approaches.
